An automotive choke cable is a control mechanism in older vehicles equipped with carbureted engines. It is a flexible cable that connects to the choke mechanism on the carburetor. The choke cable allows the driver to manually adjust the choke, which controls the air-fuel mixture during cold engine starts.When the engine is cold, the choke cable can be pulled to engage the choke, restricting the airflow into the carburetor and enriching the fuel mixture. This helps the engine start more easily and run smoothly in cold conditions. As the engine warms up, the driver can push or release the choke cable to gradually open the choke, allowing for a leaner air-fuel mixture suitable for normal operation.
