Belt Adjuster Tensioner Pulley
Tensioner pulleys, which are spring-loaded, provide pressure to a belt that drives other pulleys while simultaneously easing the strain on that belt. Tension pulleys are belt pulley systems that have at least one pulley wheel, or “block,” that is not in a fixed position. This movable block is placed in a manner within the pulley system that allows it to decrease the amount of tension on the belt that the pulley system is driving. When the belt is in place or the system is engaged, the movable block is engaged. It moves into a position that places an amount of tension on the belt or chain being driven. The tension engages the belt or chain as well. The tension pulley functions based on the amount of tension placed on the chain or belt.
The tensioner ensures that the belt delivers enough tension while you’re driving, so that the belt can move the various pulleys that drive the engine components.
