Battery jumper cables, also known as booster cables, are essential tools used to start a vehicle with a dead or discharged battery. They consist of two insulated, heavy-duty cables with clamps on each end.One cable is typically colored red and designated for positive polarity, while the other cable is black and designated for negative polarity. The clamps on each end of the cables are designed to securely attach to the battery terminals of the donor vehicle (the vehicle with a functioning battery) and the dead vehicle (the vehicle with a discharged battery).
When properly connected, the jumper cables allow the flow of electrical current from the donor vehicle's battery to the dead vehicle's battery. This provides the necessary power to start the engine of the dead vehicle.
