Tie Rod End - 53540-SOX-A02
A tie rod or tie bar is a slender structural unit used as a tie and capable of carrying tensile loads only. It is any rod or bar-shaped structural member designed to prevent the separation of two parts, as in a vehicle.
Rack End, or called axial joints are used only in rack-and-pinion steering systems and must guarantee large angular travels of as much as 60° in mostly short steering tie rods. To ensure and adequate overlap between ball socket and housing collar, ball diameters >23mm must be provided.
The rack and pinion gear set has two main functions: Conversion of the steering wheel's rotational motion into the linear motion needed for the vehicle's wheels to turn. Reduction of gears, which makes it easier for the steering wheel to turn the wheels.

Signs and symptoms when defective | When your tie rods go bad, the symptom you're most likely to experience first is a vibration or shaking sensation in your steering wheel. You may also hear associated clunking and rattling noises, especially when turning the vehicle at low speeds. These sounds are caused by tie rods that are starting to wear out. |
